Stage programme – Pawsitive Animal Training with the LIMA approach

How can we teach our pets behaviour in an effective and low-stress manner? Join Qiai, Certified Behaviour Consultant with the Animal and Veterinary Service, and our demo dog, Singapore Special “Carrot” in using the Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive (LIMA) approach to animal training. We will also share some practical tips on teaching your dog skills more efficiently, in a positive way!

 

Qualifications

  • MSc in Applied Animal Behaviour and Animal Welfare
  • Certified in Shelter Behaviour-Dogs by the IAABC (CSB-D)
  • Certified Professional Dog Trainer by the CCPDT (CPDT-KA)

 

Qiai Chong, MSc, CSB-D and CPDT-KA is a senior manager with the Animal & Veterinary Service. She has a Masters degree in Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare and a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology. As an animal behaviourist, she studies how animals interact with each other and their environments, applying this to her work with the goal of improving the welfare of animals in her care. A typical day at work involves caring for, training and rehabilitating animals at the Centre for Animal Rehabilitation to help them find great homes. She is also responsible for developing new programmes, initiatives and policies to improve animal lives and help them integrate better into communities.
